Community Involvement
For more than 20 years, B&D Consulting has built a tradition of supporting the communities in which we live and work. Whether through time, talents, or charitable gifts, our professionals and staff give back in countless ways to nurture and grow the places we call home. Both at our organizational and individual levels, we engage with clients and friends in civic activities that improve the fabric of our communities. BDC professionals and staff give liberally of their time and other resources to support local organizations and activities that are important to the community.
Often, our firm's community involvement is in partnership with well-respected charitable organizations. For example, we recently organized and sponsored a charity softball tournament to benefit the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. Last fall we partnered with Casey Trees Foundation to plant trees in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC. In December we coordinated a holiday donation of children's clothes and toys through Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area.
Our Community Engagement Committee is always looking for opportunities for our firm to provide support to DC metro area and other organizations. Upcoming projects include working with Bread for the City on an area food drive as well as continuing work with students and teachers in a DC public school.
Pro-Bono Services
Baker & Daniels has a long-standing commitment to public and community-based service. As part of that commitment, Baker & Daniels has provided legal services to those who are in critical need but unable to pay for them. The firm believes that providing pro bono legal services is an important part of our professional and institutional responsibility.
B&D Consulting shares that commitment to extend professional services on a pro bono basis where the need is great and the resources are not. While participation in pro bono work is voluntary, the firm encourages all of its professionals to participate in pro bono and public service activities and facilitates this participation in a constructive manner.
For example, Frank Swain, a B&D Consulting Senior Vice President, in July 2007 was named by the Genetic Alliance as its "Advocate of the Year" for his and the firm's sustained pro-bono support of the Genetic Alliance and enactment by Congress of the Genetic Non-Discrimination Act".
