Many in the business community are confused about the current greenhouse gas legislation under discussion in Washington, DC. In response, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce is presenting two educational webinars. This second session will feature presentations with three representatives from carbon- and energy- intensive industrial sectors in Great Britain and how these businesses are adapting to the European cap and trade system. Though there will most likely be some difference between the European model and an American system (if and when it passes) – there are likely to be more similarities in terms of the challenges and opportunities companies face as they adapt to a carbon-constrained world.

As Illinois businesses look at adapting to this potential future, we offer the following business leaders in Britain to share their experiences and answer your questions:

  • Jim Rushworth, Business Sustainability Manager, Larfarge Cement
  • Allen Norris, EHS Director, Pilkington Group (glass sector)
  • Richard Leese, Manager, Legislative and Regulatory Programmes, Mineral Products Association (cement)

UK-USAWe want to thank the British Embassy and the British Consulate-General in Chicago for coordinating the program and providing us with the opportunity to learn from these business leaders.
