Professional Experience
Andy Ehrlich is a Senior Vice President at B&D Consulting where he serves as the energy, climate and environment practice group leader. He utilizes his extensive Washington background to the benefit of his clients by assisting them in addressing the increasingly complex legislative and regulatory issues facing a wide range of stakeholders impacted by the transformation of the U.S. energy sector. A recognized figure in Washington circles, Andy is known as a leading thinker on market-based strategies in the energy, tax and health care sectors, and he promotes these initiatives within the halls of Congress and Executive Branch.
Andy applies his extensive experience as a Chief of Staff in the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives to help his clients address public policy threats and opportunities. He also worked in a variety of legislative and communications positions for three Members of Congress. After 20 years in Washington, Andy understands how to navigate Congress and the Executive Branch, neutralize opposition, build alliances and execute comprehensive legislative and regulatory strategies. His clients include corporations, public policy organizations and individuals confronted with federal tax, energy, environment, climate change and health policy issues. Andy also has significant experience in the development, management and execution of public affairs strategies, third party stakeholder efforts and media campaigns. He brings strategic insight to the federal policy and political landscape which is complemented by nearly 10 years of client accomplishments.
Andy is working to educate private industry and nonprofits on the challenges they face in a carbon-constrained world. His experience in the heavily-regulated energy and health care industries allows him to advise clients on the opportunities and challenges that exist in the energy legislative and regulatory arenas. In addition, Andy has presented on the impact of energy, climate and environment public policy before major financial institutions, real estate companies, state energy departments, renewable fuels companies and other experts.

- Legislative and Executive Branch advocacy to secure extension of expiring renewable fuel tax credits and renewable fuels standards
- Legislative advocacy to ensure eligibility under the plug-in electric hybrid vehicle tax credit
- Legislative advocacy to ensure eligibility under the production tax credit
- Executive Branch advocacy to secure ground-breaking federal demonstration program
- Guiding, advising and editing a client's successful filing of several DOE funding applications
- Identified and won the first-ever federal contract in a discreet policy area; contract extended
- Won key votes for controversial, narrowly passed legislation
