Professional Experience
Jennifer Nieto Carey is a health and life sciences professional, with a particular focus on federal public health policy. She provides strategic counsel to patient advocacy organizations, medical technology companies and health care provider clients on a range of federal administrative and legislative matters. Jennifer also works with clients to develop comprehensive and creative strategic plans and advocacy projects, including coalition development and project management.
Jennifer is also active with the economic and community development practice. She helps state, local and regional economic development clients understand the economic and legislative conditions needed to support and encourage growth for the health and life sciences community. Jennifer’s expertise focuses on developing and leveraging creative collaborations and partnerships amongst regional health and life sciences institutions to better prepare organizations for the challenges of attracting and retaining capital investment and jobs.
As a member of B&D Consulting's community engagement committee, Jennifer is active in organizing events and activities that benefit D.C. metro area communities.
Prior to joining B&D Consulting, Jennifer served as health policy advisor to U.S. Representative Anna G. Eshoo of California, a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. She advised the Congresswoman on all policy issues under the jurisdiction of the Health Subcommittee, including provisions in the FDA Amendments Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-85) related to the testing of drugs and biologics used in children and medical device regulation and user fees. She also supported the Congresswoman's leadership of legislation creating an abbreviated pathway at FDA for the approval of biosimilar products, and advocated for passage of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (P.L. 110-233), the Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act (P.L. 109-417) and the PREEMIE Act (P.L. 109-450). Jennifer also served as the staff liaison to the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus and the 21st Century Health Care Caucus.
Jennifer volunteered on the 2006 Congressional campaign of U.S. Representative Christopher S. Murphy (CT-5).
