Infrastructure Projects

Listed below are a few examples of the infrastructure projects we have worked on:

  • One of B&D Consulting's first clients, a major metropolitan area, continues to be one of its most loyal for infrastructure projects. One engagement with this client – the reclamation of an area waterfront – has secured more than $60 million in federal funds from three sources: the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Transit Administration and the Economic Development Administration. It has stimulated more than $600 million in investment by the public and private sectors and the project enjoys more than 750,000 visitors annually. Additionally, to date, more than 1,000 units of housing have been developed in and around the reclaimed waterway, and more than 700,000 square feet of commercial space have already been developed. The redevelopment of the waterfront was a key factor in the relocation of a major national organization to the city in 1999. That relocation has generated more than $63 million per year in economic impact to the community.
  • B&D Consulting has helped secure $2.1 million in federal assistance for the conversion of an abandoned World War II prisoner of war camp and illegal trash disposal site into a water management and treatment site, creating a park-like wetlands out of what was once ill-used land. The new stormwater collection system and wetlands not only relieves a once-chronic neighborhood flooding problem and eliminates a combined sewer overflow problem, but it converted an abandoned property into a nature center for wildlife.
  • B&D Consulting has helped a client secure funding to install a sensor sewer system that uses nanotechnology to help store and convey water and sewage in a more effective way. By using advanced nanotechnology to keep costs down, this project addresses both the economic hardships faced by local residents and important environmental concerns of the community.
