Fossil Energy

The United States depends on fossil fuel for more than 80 percent of the country's energy needs.  While there are efforts to move to a green economy, renewable energy and carbon-neutral sources continue to grow. The fact is, our country will rely on fossil fuels for the foreseeable future. However, there is increasing pressure on the fossil fuel industry to produce its energy in a cleaner and safer manner.

Policymakers, politicians and the general public also have grown more concerned with U.S. energy independence. Successful fossil fuel companies of the future will need to build off the political synergies of energy independence and increased clean energy production. B&D Consulting is working with fossil energy companies to help them transition to this new green economy by highlighting their contributions to energy production, job creation and local economic development.

As the government adopts strategies that mitigate the effects of human-caused pollution, B&D Consulting's professionals are assisting legislators and policymakers to ensure market impacts create opportunities for evolving technologies and the fossil energy industry. B&D Consulting's energy, climate and environment practice has extensive experience with fossil energy legislation and regulation. Our strength lies in our vast knowledge of energy and environmental laws as well as our industry-wide network from our team's experience working in both chambers of Congress, the Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Recent examples of our experience include:

  • Representation before industry trade associations on behalf of member companies
  • Drafting of official regulatory comments before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
  • Advocacy before the House and Senate energy and environment committees on energy and climate change legislation
  • Development of a comprehensive public policy strategy for a large fossil fuel company to ensure its business model anticipates expected policy changes
